AMVETS Post 269 "Louis E. Curdes" is the first AMVETS Post ever established in Currituck County.  

Post 269 is dedicated in memory of Lieutenant Colonel Louis E. Curdes (USAF-Ret) - a  famous WWII fighter pilot.  

The founder and Post Commander (Christopher A. Curdes) is the first Veteran's Service Officer serving Currituck  County.
