Pilmoor's United Methodist Men (UMM) deployed a 5 man Team to Shiloh UMC in Stumpy Point. We assisted that local body of Christ with disaster relief caused by Hurricane Irene. The church had over 15 inches of water and approximately 4 inches of mud in the Sanctuary due to the resulting floodwaters. Pilmoor's UMM team assisted with laying new Pergo Flooring in two large classrooms and hallways. Our contact (Howard) was extremely thankful for the effort and stated the 8 hours spent by our team represented 3 weeks of their time and labor. Shiloh UMC has 25 active members; however, only three are men; furthermore, two of the three are in their twilight years and limited to their physical abilities - but - Praise the Lord they are still engaged and active. Pilmoor UMM is committed to Shiloh UMC relative to providing additional assistance with the continued recovery effort. At this time, the effort has not been determined, but Howard has indicated that they will require help with installing cabinets and general carpenter skills in addition to painting and general clean up.
To that end - Pilmoor UMM is preparing another trip to provide additional help mid to late March and plan to deploy two groups - one during the week and one on a Saturday. We also plan to compile a specific “to-do” list and recruit the applicable talent pool to ensure a successful effort.
If you would like to be part of the "hands and feet" of Jesus and have some spare time to spare and would like to be part of this mission kindly contact John Murray (453-6814) and provide a preference as to which trip you can support.
This invitation is open to all male/female – young/old; furthermore, all skilled or non-skilled servants are encouraged to help. The reward of knowing that you’ve served others, for the Glory of our Lord Jesus Christ, is its own reward and a wonderful example of how Pilmoor Memorial UMC fulfills its mission of "...serving others".
Thank you in advance
